Thousand Island Dressing Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1/2 cup mayonnaise 3 tablespoons Heinz chili sauce -- plus 1 teaspoon 2 tablespoons dill pickles -- chopped 2 tablespoons capers -- drained (lightly squeezed) chopped 1 1/2 teaspoons prepared horseradish -- squeeze out liquid 1 1/2 teaspoons red wine vinegar 3/8 teaspoon ground black pepper 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon brandy 1 green onion -- divided (see note) salt and pepper to taste -- optional 1 egg -- hard cooked, finely chopped for garnish (optional) Place all ingredients, except 1 tablespoon of green onion, additional salt and pepper, lettuce and egg in bowl and mix well. Add salt and pepper to taste if necessary. Let rest in refrigerator at least 2 hours to blend. To serve, place 2 wedges of lettuce on each of 4 plates, season wedges lightly with salt and pepper and garnish with egg, if desired, and reserved green onion. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - NOTES : Wash green onion, then trim end.
